I haven't made a definite decision, but I'm really considering lengthening the classes to 1 hour, possibly starting August 1st, to allow more time for regular skill work in gymnastics movements, the olympic lifts, basic CF movements that many of us are lacking in (Double Unders, Kipping Pull-Ups, etc..), and hopefully things like running technique/efficiency. That means skill work in things that aren't included in the workout that day. Potentially even means working on skills that aren't in CF WODs ever (like some gymnastics movements and holds, or some assistance/skill transfer exercises for the O-Lifts).

The idea here is that the CF WODs aren't the only measure of progression. Especially as people progress past the 1 year mark of being in CF, I think skills are what will keep you constantly progressing, and keep you interested.

Which reminds me, John Huston is at a CrossFit Endurance certification this weekend. Looking forward to the added knowledge he'll bring back to us!

Me and Kat are about to be in WWIV now. not WWIII, straight to IV.

That's fair. I'm not generalizing all skill work as bad. I'm just not a gymnastics kind of girl. I'd rather be choking on my own sweat during an AMRAP or trying not to throw up during a filthy fifty.

But practicing and strengthening your handstand push ups not only helps you wod's with hspu's in then, it also helps wod's with presses, push presses, push jerks, anything with shoulders, etc... which includes your cf total and others... imho

I disagree guys. I do not like gymnastics days. I think it's kind of a waste of time (not saying I didn't practice the skills and all that jazz - I did), but they are moves we RARELY ever use in WODs. I feel like practicing them once every 5 months isn't helping me with the one WOD with handstand push ups in it we did 8 weeks ago, and won't do again for another 4-6 months. Plus I got slapped in the face with the band trying to practice ring dips. Negative stars.

I'm with Kyle. I really like days like this. It was a good day to practice any and all skills. I know I don't get nearly enough practice in to really be good at anything, plus it was a nice break from this already hard week.

Take advantage of days like this, they are few and far between!

I don't know why this one was voted 1 star by 2 people, this workout was what you made of it. I spent probably 10 minutes in a handstand position and my shoulders got a pretty good workout along with my core.
