WOD 11/24/09

by Brian

Today’s WOD:

Angie

Last completed on 9/18/09.

The proverbial “calm before the storm”. Anyone get butterflies before workouts start? I used to get them all the time, but now I find that my mind is blank pre-WOD more often than not. It often continues through my whole workout and it helps when I’m grinding out tough reps. For the workout today, don’t worry so much about the total numbers, instead think only about the current repitition. You shouldn’t be thinking about rep 82 when you’re only on 28. Think about 1 rep at a time and you’ll find those numbers melting away.

last time: 25:13 in january

I know some of the times were slower guys. I think enforcing the chest to deck had something to do with it. (after the 4pm class, a few people were lax with this. Went over to push-ups with abmats underneath to monitor depth for those who weren’t clearly getting chest to deck.)

We also had mandatory arms on chest for the abmat sit-ups, different from last time. Ultimately, better standards will pay off!

23:57 today

19:20 back in jan… I hope we were using dumbells for situps or something that day in order to explain my time today

Hot damn. For all intents and purposes, this was an entirely new beast from the Angie that you all know and love. We made it harder and the times suffered, but now we have a way to compare times across the board. Don’t worry about your drops in time (mine was 10 minutes slower) because every Angie from now on will be exactly the same as this one. This is a new better benchmark for everyone.

23:40, pushups were the same but arms on chest situps were way slower than last time

i am still readjusting from jetlag but really wanted to do this today and really am impressed with the new standards and everyone’s extra effort put into their wods. from reading thru the comments i could tell everyone had extra intensity throughout! big reason why i’m proud to belong to this gym is seeing everyone working so hard and their commitment to improve. it inspires me to continue to strive towards all your benchmarks! thanks!
