Some of you remember Jordan. He worked out with us last year and has been at college (drinking too much beer) for this past semester. Jordan is attempting to undo a semester’s worth of bad awesome life choices by CrossFitting with us and eating healthy for a month. You can follow his chronicles here. He’ll be working out every day while using Zone, Paleo, and Intermittent Fasting for his diet. It should be an interesting experiment on the human body.

I think a weekend’s awesome choices are easily undone by a week of CF and a good diet but that’s a 2-5 ratio. A semester’s awesome choices undone in a month is more like a 15-4 ratio and might be a bit more difficult. Good luck Jordan.
B-man, can we still search the WOD’s to try and find when we did this work out before?
Good luck Jordan. I’ve already read the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition’s article on intermittent fasting and found it to be incredibly fascinating. I plan on trying it out myself. It seems to be a moderate first step in practicing something other than common-sense calorie restriction, at least for those like me that are still warming up to the idea of heavier dietary commitments (ie. Paleo or Zone).
I was just saying how we haven’t done a pull up workout in a while. I am excited. Do we have all the bars up?
where is this fasting article?
Mackenzie – you can still do that. Use the search box to the left under Upcoming Events. I think the last time was March or April.
Ryan – Pull-Up bars not finished. So, it’ll be interesting. Had some issues given that I can’t weld, and I don’ own a welder. We’re gonna try again tomorrow, place that rents out welders was all out earlier this week.
I think IF should be the last thing you do rather than the first step in changing how you consume food.
A lot of people aren’t used to being hungry and could binge. The other half of it is when you IF you want to try to consume the same number of calories you would during a whole day during the compressed window. This is also not easy.
I would try to eat more whole foods first.
Jake, I got to do some welding while I was at VT, I’m no pro but might be able to help.
7.5 rounds, 95 pull-ups
8 rounds: 15, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11, 11, 13. I still need to work on better efficiency with my kip.
The search bar is on the right on my screen….
7 rounds 8-8-7-8-8-7-6 and 400m
jake i can weld as well….again not a pro but i can do what you need no problem…………if its a MIG or ARC…..
6 rounds I guess with somewhere over 90 pullups
Wow i don’t know how i missed the “search” earlier thanks kat and ashton. Too bad i didn’t come to the WOD to see if i could get a PR, seems my stomach isn’t liking something in this paleo diet.
Jake what do we think of allowing friends or family who are in town for xmas to come and try out(learn) what this “crossfit” thing we do is like?
20,15,10,12,10,10,9
hung around after and did another 50 pull-ups just cuz i’m a glutton for punishment
I think it was something like:
27, 16, 12, 14, 11, 15, 12 = 107
94 pullups, ran 2 miles, and 2 big skin rips on my hands. FYI: crossfit games sectionals are March 27-28th in the DC area. Went to the qualifiers last year as a spectator and had a great time. Planning on competing this year. I know I have no chance of advancing to regionals, just going to have a good time and test myself. I would encourage anyone who might be interested to consider competing or going to watch. There will be a lot of studs competing, but also a lot of joe 6 pack weekend crossfitters. I remember a guy at regionals last year who had to be taught how to do OHS’s because he had never done them before. It’s an opportunity to put faces with some of the names from the CF site and meet some really cool people.
Ryan, the link to the fasting article and the journal article are provided below:

6 rounds, but not before a graceful faceplant into the sidewalk on the first. Done with ring rows.
11, 11, 8, 9, 7, 7
Can we get a Crossfit Testimonial from this woman:

Didn’t any chicas do this WOD?
15/8/7/6/6/7/6 + an extra run, pull-ups were deadhang
Sorry I forgot to link the past times we did this WOD, it has been corrected.
I’m definitely game to go to sectionals to compete. At the very least, it will be a fun experience. If you don’t want to compete, at least come along to spectate. As we get closer, we can start setting up carpools.
With respect to IF, I’m with Mark. I think that it is at the far end of the spectrum as far as diets are concerned. I don’t think it is easy and it requires an incredible amount of discipline and knowing your body. The Zone tends to fall into this category as well. I really believe that eating quality foods is the best way for people to start being healthier (or even starting with cutting out sodas [diet or otherwise], pastas, and grains). Eating quality foods is not as intimidating or hard as it looks. All we require from you is a little dedication and consistency.
Something like 15-10-8-9-8-10 + a run
6 Rounds: 8, 9, 8, 8, 8, 8 = 49
i was planning on going to the sectionals as well
30, 15, 13, 12, 12, 12, 11 for 105 pull-ups.
The pink is obnoxious on my bigger post above.
not just on the bigger post above…
