mmm gonna be honest, starting to not care. I am still sticking to the diet, but its really not doing anything. I figure I will finish up with it till the end of the challenge, but I haven’t lost any weight and do not feel a significant change in my work outs. I always felt pretty high energy, and maybe its because I cheat a little on the weekends with alcohol and set myself back, but all in all I have been eating much stricter and “better” than I was before, but have seen little to no results for five weeks of paleo. Oh well, Matt said something about the zone, maybe ill try that.
Hey Brittany,
I thought you said you were losing some weight over the course of the week, and netting a pound or so even after the weekends? If not, a few things to try:
Monitor the drinks/food you’re taking in on the weekends. Maybe it’s enough to do some damage. You also might find that it will take a little more work to get leaner as compared to others, since you already are lean. May just take more precision.
Reduce your calories moderately (try 100 per day) this week, and see how it goes. No changes, reduce them 100 more the following week.
Sorry to hear you haven’t had better results. Hope the rest goes better.
hahah i just reread my post and realize it is like agro, I guess I was feeling passive aggressive towards paleo this morning. I have lost like 2 pounds but nothing noticeable i guess is my main issue. i am going to try to cut back on the alcohol even though its hard with my lifestyle being young and living i the city and whatnot. Mac and I were thinking about doing 2 a days with Crossfit Endurance which also might help me break through this barrier. I will be more positive, I do think its nice to eat clean so that is a plus
I have to echo some of brittany’s comments. My over all diet has improved and I saw about a 5 pound weight loss at first (and dropped a pant size) but other than that I’ve stayed steady. I contribute some of that success to the changes I started making when I first started crossfit and have been fine tuning with this nutrition challenge. My work outs seem to go better than they had in the beginning but sadly I’m going to have a hard time getting to crossfit the next couple of weeks. My husband is coming in town and time is very precious right now.
I look forward to introducing him to some fabulous recipes I have come across and sharing with him some of the things I have learned.
Carbs are still my trouble spot and while I have cut them down drastically I don’t know that I can maintain where I probably “should be” with them.
Sounds good Cindy. 5 lbs and a dress size is awesome. Really, it’s about long term, sustainable health, and achieving your goals. Where your carbs “should be” is the amount that keeps you healthy, fit, and happy.
I was starting to really hate the diet on Sunday becasue I had all of these crazy cravings. I could live off of fruit and candy so after 4 weeks of no cheap candy and a major cut back on fruit, my taste buds were getting angry.
Other than that I do a lot better by snacking on veggies, meats, and nuts than by cooking a big drawn out dinner every single night.
Ive added in more fruit in the last 3 days because it makes me happy and I like it way too much to deprive myself of it, but I’m eating low carb fruit like watermelon.
Also, I’m trying to stay away from crossfit this week becasue my ankle just will not heel fast enough. It seems to be working so far but I’m afraid I won’t be able to stand being this sedentary for one more day (however, Brady bet me that I wouldn’t be able to not crossfit for a whole week so don’t tell him if you see me around the gym.)
Once this ankle heels I’m going to try my hardest to wake up early and do 2 a days on tues thurs with the endurance in the morning. This semester seems to be exponentially easier than last semester so it should all work out (no pun intended).
B is the same, 1 egg, 1 egg white, 2 slices turk bacon
L is always heavy snacking or a giganto salad
sorry for the bad jokes and have a good week!
Ugh Mackenzie I’m the same way with the sugar cravings.
This weekend was rough, but I did well with Paleo-based alcohol…diet soda mixed with vodka and seltzer. Totally missing beer though.
Otherwise good, I’m enjoying exploring the variety of foods I actually can eat. Doing more almond flour baking than I probably should be, but I’ve stopped eating nuts in any other source pretty much, so it’s not the worst thing. Also eating the occasional tablespoon or two of parmesan. I’ve got to have some vices.
While running this morning by myself while it was still dark out, I thought maybe the endurance class was a good idea, too…we’ll see if I can drag my ass out of bed at 530 tomorrow though. ha.
I feel like I’m making an improvement in body composition, weight I have no idea nor do I care, if even ever so slight. Cutting out the little bits of candy I eat at work isn’t so bad. And giving up grains is pretty easy as long as I stay out of restaurants. My workouts I think have been improving quite a bit. I’m also doing a little supplemental work later in the evening at Cary St. But, I’m finding it impossible to not destroy my body on weekends with alcohol. OK, maybe destroy is a slight exaggeration but not by much. Most of us live in the city and most of us go out every weekend, a lot of times together. This isn’t helping any of us; I think we need a paleo challenge support group on the weekends that doesn’t meet at Avalon or Metro.
kyle, i’m finding it impossible too but, honestly, you want to stop going out on the weekends? give me some suggestions of what you want to do that would be just as fun as a night at avalon and metro
Parchesi or Chutes and Ladders.
That’s the real problem, no i really don’t want to stop and i have no idea of anything that would be as fun.
hahaha i know we need like xfit a.a. I would love to do something that didn’t require us to demolish a weeks worth of diet and exercise, but there are so many movies you can see. It doesn’t help that i live across the street from avalon, so when I am bored it is a gleaming beacon of fun. I would love to see how directly my BAC and weight are connected.
So far so good…I think, if anything I am so proud of myself for not cheating. Just got back from snowshoe with a bunch of classmates and stayed away from all the cookies, danishes, and s’mores…just had a glass of wine in the evenings (its heart healthy to do so , right?!
). Kind of annoying because I knew none of the food that was provided up there would be Paleo so I arrived prepared with my ice chest with my “special” Paleo food, nerdy… I feel really good about myself and energetic for the most part. Not going to lie, I do not go out seeking for those processed carbohydrates anymore, but I do crave them when I see someone else enjoying them.
Thanks to everyone who has shared their wonderful recipes, especially the Paleo meatballs and John’s Paleo pancakes are my staples.
brittany and i made some really god paleo waffles this morning. we used the same recipe at the pancakes and added shredded coconut.
I’m back to eating more fruit and I will hopefully be back to crossfit on monday!!
Soooo….. Just like others I have been having a few slips. I have foud it really hard because of my schedule to keep up with the diet. I am at work longer than expected and I run out of good food, so i eat what ever I can find. Also bad days at work have definitely not helped as the chocolate and other not so great for me stuff. I am re-committing for the last 2 weeks. I have stocked the apartment with good stuff, and I am refusing to eat any of the crappy snack food that i have stashed away at school for the kids (those girl scouts will have to wait for another day).
I finally made the cookies that John posted the recipe for in week 2. At first I was unsure… but then I ate a second cookie and i decided they are really good. If you are going to make them I found that keeping them in a ball or scoop shape is better. The just taste better that way, rather than flattening them out so they look like a cookie.
By the way…. i have been floored by how much more money I am spending on groceries in the last few weeks. Eating healthy is rather expensive.
All has been going well with the paleo, I think I have my ideal portions now. I feel pretty good. Still get cravings here and there for sugars/chocolates. But other than that all has been well. Been eating pretty much the same stuff I have been posting for previous weeks. Went to Diane’s paleo pot luck and made a almond meal bread which turned out pretty good. Kat originally posted the recipe. I made it again after the pot luck and added blueberries…quite awesome that way.
Week has gone well added a few more carbs the days that I do the endurance class other than that things have stayed about the same. I have lost a few more pounds and feel great during workouts.
The trip to Savannah knocked me off course a bit. Otherwise, I’ve rebounded reasonably well. The extra half hour to get to the space (7pm now) has really helped. I’m less stressed about running out of the office.
I think ate too much fruit this week so I plan to get back on track w/recording on FitDay. Everyone made super yummy dishes for the paleo potluck! Nikki, I need to find the chili recipe and post it! Thanks to everyone for coming over!
